French-Belgian cookware maker Le Creuset is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the legendary sci-fi franchise Star Trek with a brand-new, limited-edition collection. The themed range features cast-iron casserole dishes styled after the USS Enterprise and Klingon vessels, alongside playful items like a communicator-shaped cheese grater and Spock-ear mugs.
To mark the release in style, Le Creuset teamed up with Sent Into Space to launch an Enterprise casserole pot over 111,000 feet into the stratosphere. The heavy cast-iron cookware survived extreme temperatures dipping below -63 degrees Celsius before parachuting safely back down to solid ground.
The collection goes on sale today, following the rapid success of Le Creuset’s previous pop-culture crossovers like the Pokémon line. Given the massive appeal among Trekkies, items are expected to sell out almost instantly.
