AI infrastructure startup Cornelis has announced a $205 million funding round led by IAG Capital Partners. Formerly spun off from Intel, the firm is aiming to chip away at Nvidia’s massive market share in the artificial intelligence sector.
The company introduced its Active Compute Fabric networking technology, designed to solve the bottleneck where GPUs waste time waiting for data. By enabling chips to process and transmit information simultaneously, Cornelis targets increased efficiency in data centers.
Unlike Nvidia’s tightly integrated hardware and software stack, Cornelis relies on an open architecture approach. This allows clients to mix and match various GPU accelerators with its networking fabric, offering a flexible alternative as new competitors emerge in the AI hardware space.
