To lead this new division, Meta hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, who abruptly stepped down as CEO of database software firm MongoDB. The platform will package Meta’s growing suite of AI tools—including the Muse assistant and specialized APIs—allowing businesses and developers to integrate sophisticated automation into their operations.
This commercial push aims to monetize Meta’s massive infrastructure spending on AI. Meanwhile, the sudden leadership departure rattled investors at MongoDB, causing the database maker’s shares to plummet by more than 17% following the announcement.
