The Malaysian government has ordered the closure of the Network School, a startup-focused community founded by tech investor Balaji Srinivasan. Operating out of an abandoned hotel, the initiative was designed as a hybrid between a tech incubator and a self-improvement retreat, aiming to lay the groundwork for a brand-new society envisioned in Srinivasan’s writings.
Despite its ambitious goals, the project faced mounting criticism regarding poor living conditions and facilities, alongside licensing complications with local authorities. Following the shutdown of the current Malaysian campus, Srinivasan has already moved forward by securing a new agreement to establish a campus in Kazakhstan.
