Cap table platform Pulley shuts down and partners with Carta

Cap table management platform Pulley has announced it is shutting down, with its final day of operations scheduled for December 8. Founded in 2020 with over $50 million in backing from prominent investors like Stripe and Founders Fund, the startup has arranged a partnership with its long-time rival Carta to offload its existing customer base.

Although leadership did not provide an explicit reason for the closure, insiders suggest the platform struggled against entrenched habits and the rise of AI-driven spreadsheet tools. As startups increasingly leverage artificial intelligence to manage their cap tables internally, standalone software alternatives face heightened pressure.

  • Pulley to cease operations completely by December 8
  • Users and prospective clients redirected to rival Carta
  • Secured over $50 million in venture funding since 2020
  • AI automation tools altered the cap table software landscape
