Mistral AI raises €3B to advance sovereign AI and expand infrastructure

French AI lab Mistral AI has successfully raised €3 billion in a Series D funding round, pushing its post-money valuation past €21 billion. Marked as the largest equity fundraising ever completed by a European tech company, the round was led by Samsung Electronics alongside the Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity.

The newly secured capital will be directed towards scaling compute capacity, building robust AI infrastructure, and expanding the company’s global footprint. Mistral’s core strategy centers on providing European and international clients with sovereign AI solutions, granting governments and enterprises greater control over where and how their AI workloads are processed.
