Artificial intelligence startup Thinking Machines, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, is reportedly in discussions to raise $1 billion in fresh capital. The funding round is expected to value the company at approximately $40 billion, with venture capital firm Accel in talks to lead the investment.
Although substantial, the proposed $40 billion valuation falls short of the $50 billion target the startup pursued late last year. The company currently boasts an annualized revenue run rate exceeding $100 million and continues to expand its offerings, including the Inkling open-weight model and the Tinker platform, despite facing a few high-profile co-founder departures recently.
