NASA has successfully launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, marking the beginning of its million-mile journey to the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point (L2). Equipped with a 300-megapixel infrared camera, the new observatory features a field of view one hundred times larger than that of the Hubble Space Telescope.
The mission aims to survey the cosmos at speeds a thousand times faster than previous instruments allow. Utilizing an advanced coronagraph system to block stellar glare, the telescope will directly image exoplanets and conduct detailed 3D scans to map the distribution of dark matter and dark energy across the universe.
